Pangasinan Trip

Our last hurrah for this summer. One last beach outing. It also served as some sort of a despedida for our dear friends Ole and Mike who shall be migrating to the States in two weeks.

But more than the beach, it was the food that we ate in Pangasinan that became memorable. Here's a short rundown of the food places we visited as recommended by our dear Pangalatoc friend, Tish:

  • Matutina's - Near the shores of San Fabian, this is where we had our lunch. Food here is so good that the owner had to extend his restaurant. Twice. Right beside Matutina 1 is Matutina 2, with Matutina 3 adjacent to it. I know, just forget about the sound of the restaurant's name. We were there to taste the food. Inihaw na bangus (from the land of the Bonuan Bangus), pork barbeque, sinigang na watchamacallit-fish, talaba, fried squid and shrimp. My seafood disappointment in Boracay was totally erased by this gastronomical feast. Can you say pig-out?
  • Giorgio's Pizza - Located at the heart of Dagupan City, their home-style pizza can rival those sold here in Manila. Plus they have fried chicken portions which can be mistaken for Kal (as in kalaking manok)
  • Jeck's Bakeshop - We even had to go out of our way to visit this bakeshop located in Calasiao to buy our pasalubongs. From their bread loaves to their pastries, everything tastes great.

That Pangasinan trip, though short, was a pleasant experience. Though we didn't really enjoy the beach (heck, we didn't even swim on the beach), the 250 kilometer trip was worth it. Too bad that when we arrived here in Manila, we were jolted back into Metro Manila's urban reality as we got caught in a 2 hour traffic jam in QC.

So much for vacations.

Here are some pictures from our trip.
