Bisita Iglesia 2005
It has been slowly becoming a tradition of sorts. Two years ago, it was a road trip to the pre-mudslide Real, Quezon. Last year, it was just a trip around the churches and chapels of Metro Manila.
This year, we decided to go East. Churches in the small towns of Rizal right along Laguna de Bay.
Who knows where we will go to next Holy Week

Antipolo Church

Morong Church

Baras Church

Pililia Church

What road trip would be complete without Mae's fascination for the humble street food, the banana-que.
Or as she calls it in her native Batanguena tongue, sundot saging.
Say it with me, 'soon-dot sa-geng'

So where do we go next?

Cast of "Kampanerong Kuba - The Remake" on location.

Right beside the Pililia Church, this old house was built at the same time the church was built, the mid-17th century.
Apparently, this ancestral home belongs to a relative from the Martinez clan - the sister of the aunt of the uncle of the cousin of the niece of the mother of the nephew of the grandfather of my Tatay. Got it?

This house supposedly became an inspiration when Jose Rizal was writing Noli and Fili.

This shot turned out ok.
I was half-expecting James to bungle this one. What with his shaking hands due to fasting (unintentional as it may be since he left home that day without having eaten anything yet).
Moral of the story, wake up early when you have a scheduled trip, dumdum.
